Welsh Choirs Raise £1,000 in Charity Concert
A concert in Cardiff on 2 March by the mixed choirs Côr Godre'r Garth and Côr y Gleision (Cardiff Blues Choir) raised almost £1,000 for the Lesotho Rugby Academy.
The event was held in the city's Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral and involved around 100 singers. An enthusiastic audience had braved appalling weather to attend the concert and were treated to a varied programme of Welsh folk favourites, classical anthems and more contemporary music.
LRA Trustee Steve Lloyd told the audience their generosity would help transform the lives of many hundreds of children in Lesotho. He also thanked both choirs and their conductors Steffan Watkins (Côr Godre'r Garth) and Richard Vaughan (Côr y Gleision) for covering the costs of staging the concert and for the proceeds from collections held in each choir.
